I caught one in my cornfield"
—Muddy Waters
The album represents a major milestone in Mud's later career, signaling a raw, intentional return to his classic 1950s Chicago electric blues style. This shift followed years of experimental, psychedelic, celebrity-packed collaborations and brass-heavy releases pushed by "the geniuses" at Chess. Ralph Bass' production captures live spontaneity and raw energy without relying on electronic studio gimmicks.
Surprisingly, 'Can't Get No Grindin' is the only Muddy Waters album in the Blues Hall of Fame (inducted in 1991) that was actually recorded as an album, not a compilation of singles and older material.

James Cotton – Harmonica
"Pinetop" Perkins – Piano and Organ
Sam Lawhorn – Guitar
James "Pee Wee" Madison – Guitar

Willie "Big Eyes" Smith – Drums

For the freeload, let's play 'Word Association'.
I'll give you a starter word. Then, the next person will post the very first word that pops into their head. The next person then posts another word that is related to the second one. So on and so forth...
