  1. Thanks for sharing the news Babs. I hate arsonists. If that is what this was I wish something bad upon the perpetrators.

  2. Very difficult to see this as anything other than arson.

    1. It's not just the USA, pmac. Things are turning to shit all over, in Europe, in India, in the Middle East ... it's not just the climate change that's reached tipping point, it's the culture. The one thing that's needed now is strong, focussed, dynamic and decisive leadership from anyone who isn't a fascist or corporate shill. And there ain't nobody. Nobody nowhere. It's a shit show, and the most that most of us can do is not make it worse. Tearing stuff down, hating and killing, this is the "easy" stuff that makes the headlines. Building and growing and caring isn't news.

    3. I agree with pmac and Farq, but this does seem like an opportunity to quote Phil Ochs:
"Here's to the country you've torn out the heart of
Mississippi, find yourself another country to be part of."
Sure, there are plenty of decent people in MS but they've never had the power in that state ... or, at least, not since 1876!

  4. This is the latest in a series of incidents where symbols of the historical & cultural contributions of African Americans are being destroyed. A couple of weeks ago is was a statue of Jackie Robinson that was vandalized. Racism is a horrible disease, but today’s GOP has embraced it. Racism & white supremacy need to be erased from the US.The election this November is really a battle for the soul of America.

Babs, I apologize for posting a political screed in your new blog.

  7. Despicable. It's already been said better than I could. Unfortunately, the worst is yet to come.

  8. Anyone know if there's a GoFund Me page? I'd love to contribute some coin to rebuild this...along with state of the art surveillance to apprehend and prosecute the hate clowns that engage in this sort of vandalism. If required, I'd contribute to rebuild it a third time. fourth, fifth...as many as it takes, all the while utilizing the surveillance like fly paper for bigots. As bad as this is, people of this stripe are just as inclined to commit race-based mass murder, in a supermarket, in a church for chrissakes. MJH always impressed me as a kind, gentle man. It’s not not hard to understand how blues music arose from this kind of environment. )
